HHS is the creation of Paul Huls. With a family history in the nursery industry reaching back to just after World War 2, horticulture is ingrained in my DNA. Growing up, I spent my summers working beside my father planting, weeding, watering and learning the basics of plant culture at the family business, Huls Nursery.
After obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering and earning my commission in the United States Air Force, I served on active duty for 5 years before leaving the military and returning to the nursery. Through military service my attention to detail and discipline were honed, and they were put to work as partner/owner in Huls Nursery for 25 years.
Producing over 100,000 trees, shrubs, evergreens and perennials for retail sale through Huls Nursery, the time is right to showcase my talents, expertise, and enthusiasm to help you achieve "Growing Excellence!"
Many people are surprised to find my formal education is in engineering. While there might not be an intuitive correlation between engineering and horticulture, I have found that the two disciplines compliment each other. A strong, logical thought process is an extremely valuable tool, whether developing landscape designs, or diagnosing disease, pest, or growing issues. Combine that technical training with 25 years of hands on horticultural experience, sprinkle in an eye for shape, color, and function, and the result is a unique set of skills that I will put to work for you!
